Hi, I'm Colleen!
I got an early start in the industry, assisting at my first salon job at age 14 and beginning the Cosmetology program at Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical High School, in Lexington, MA. I knew this was the career path for me, after spending my childhood giving my Barbies and American Girl dolls haircuts and roller sets. After graduating and passing my licensing exam, I took a job at a new salon where they put me behind a chair right away. I learned a lot on my own at that salon, having to take charge of my own continued training and making a few mistakes along the way.
I've spent the last 17 years working all over the city of Boston- from the South End (I still miss walking to the South End Buttery!), to Newbury Street (I don't miss spending my whole paycheck shopping there), to Southie (which still has a piece of my heart, because of the small-town vibes), and to Dorchester, where I have been working since 2017, have lived since 2012, and is where my babies are growing up!
I am mom to two wild souls, Fawn (9) and Michael (7). They're my little city kids that remind me I'm from the 'burbs. When we aren't at a hockey rink, we spend our free time on weekends having "family days" when their dad and I take them to find a new hiking spot, or head to the nearest beach. My daughter will occasionally let me try out a new braid in her hair, but she will always be my most challenging client.
People often ask what my favorite service is to do in the salon, and my answer is always this - seeing your transformation through, from beginning to end, and helping you replicate the look at home. What good is it to create a beautiful hairstyle if I haven't given you the tools to maintain it? Whether a major chop or a subtle trim, a total color overhaul or just a touch-up, I want you to feel confident and able to recreate your new look on your own.
